There are few sports stars as well known or as iconic as Muhammad Ali. His boxing career would see him become one of the greatest boxers of all time, and he would become a prominent figure in the quest for peace that would start an unending legacy. Born in 1942 as Cassius Clay he began boxing at the age of 12. He remained an amateur into the 1960s when at the age of 18 he won an Olympic gold medal. Following this Muhammad Ali would become a professional boxer winning his first heavyweight championship belt in 1963 against Sonny Liston. Ali’s career would span over 25 years. During this time, he would take part in some of the most famous fights in history such as the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manila. Muhammad Ali is a sporting legend, his contribution to boxing and sport in general, has ensured his place in sporting history.
